The Century 16 Hilltop Mall Theatre, currently the Richmond area's only mainstream multiplex, is adjacent to the Hilltop Mall shopping center and was opened by Century Theatres on September 28, 2001. The Century 16 was the first new movie theater opening in Richmond since the Hilltop Mall Cinemas opened it's doors on September 2, 1976. That was a quarter of a century earlier! Cinemark now owns and operates the Century 16.
